USING ZEN & MOVING MEDITATIONS TO HELP CALM THE MIND
Shihan Frank Deck has dedicated over three decades to the study of martial arts, beginning at the age of six, inspired by Ninja Turtles, Power Rangers, and The Karate Kid. What started as childhood fascination became a lifelong pursuit of mastery, discipline, and self-discovery.
With over 20 years as an instructor, Frank has trained countless students, from beginners to elite professionals. He spent three years managing and teaching shooting and combative techniques at the largest private gun range in the U.S., working with military personnel, law enforcement officers, professionals, and civilians alike. His experience extends beyond the dojo—he has stepped into the cage as a fighter, winning his debut match in just 10 seconds.
Frank’s martial arts journey spans over 30 styles, including Eastern, Western, island, and rare, obscure disciplines. He has trained in person with grandmasters and studied directly under students of O-Sensei, Bruce Lee (along with Ip Man), and other legendary martial artists. Alongside his physical training, he has spent 30 years deeply immersed in the study of Zen philosophy, integrating its principles into his teachings.
He holds the rank of Shihan (Master) and 5th-degree black belt in Kempo Karate, Japanese Jujitsu, Kobojitsu, and Escrima.
Beyond titles and ranks, Frank’s mission is to help others find focus, confidence, and purpose—whether through martial arts, mechanical work, or the pursuit of a flow state.
Keep moving. Keep learning. Keep fighting.
May you find peace on your path ~ Shihan
